For over 18 years, the Aspen Center has been dedicated to offering specialized pediatric therapies to families in the greater Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC area. Our speech therapy services are a key part of our work, designed to meet the unique needs of children with Down syndrome. We aim to help children from birth to 16 years of age overcome communication challenges, giving them the tools they need to thrive in their interactions with the world.
At the Aspen Center, our pediatric speech-language pathologists (SLPs) understand the specific speech and language development challenges that children with Down syndrome often face. We evaluate and treat a range of communication issues, helping children build both expressive and receptive language skills. Our goal is to help children express themselves more effectively and understand the language used by others, boosting their confidence and independence.
Our Down syndrome speech therapy program focuses on a variety of areas to promote holistic development. This includes verbal and non-verbal communication systems, recognizing that every child communicates in their own way. We work on speech sound production and oral motor development, essential for clear articulation and effective communication. Our SLPs use targeted strategies to strengthen the muscles involved in speech, ensuring children can communicate more clearly.
In addition to these core areas, our therapy also emphasizes socialization and executive functioning skills. We help children develop the tools to interact with others, understand social cues, and manage daily routines. These skills are essential for their success at school, home, and in social environments.
Aspen Center’s expertise also extends to treating related conditions, including apraxia, motor planning issues, autism, and other communication disorders. By offering a personalized approach, we ensure each child receives the tailored care they need to make progress.
Our commitment to families in the RTP area, including Cary, Apex, Morrisville, and New Hill, is rooted in our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to communicate confidently. At Aspen Center, we’re here to support children with Down syndrome on their journey to effective and meaningful communication. Learn more by browsing our website: https://aspencenter.net.
